Ana Romero
Ana is a movement artist and designer. She started her dance studies at Academia de Arte y Ballet in Cuernavaca, México. She discovered contemporary dance at Centro Morelense de las Artes. In 2005, Ana obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of San Diego. While working in the graphic design industry, Ana has made dance and movement a very important part of her life. She had the opportunity to be part of the FmXLab, a side project of Fóramen M. Ballet, a modern dance company from Mexico City. She performed in different venues in her country like Centro Nacional de las Artes, El Jardín Borda, El Auditorio de la Ciudad de Tepoztlán and El Auditorio de la Ciudad de Cuautla. Ana was part of the first International Festival of Dance in Morelos, her home town. After a year, Ana moved to Washington DC where she danced for local choreographers like Daniel Burkholder, Deborah Riley, and Helanius Wilkins. She moved to New York in 2010 to continue her dance career at Dance New Amsterdam where she has had the opportunity to dance with choreographers like Alexandra Beller, Diane McCarthy, Sasha Soreff, and Oliver Stele. Ana has performed in different venues like the Dance New Amsterdam Theatre, Dixon Place, Triskelion Arts Theater, Greene Space, and the streets and plazas of New York. Ana joined DanceAction in the Summer of 2011 and has been privileged to be part of very playful and meaningful choreographic processes through the spring of 2014. Ana is also certified through the Mind Body Dancer® 200 Yoga Teacher Training with TaraMarie Perri.
